Weapons Impact Scoring Set (WISS)
The 2011 - 2012 CSULA Senior Design Team was assigned to the military project, Weapon Impact Scoring Set (WISS). The project is sponsored the NAVSEA Naval Surface Warfare Center located in Corona, California. The WISS is a training system design to improve aircrew proficiency in the delivery of air-to-ground ordnance such as bombs and rockets. During a mission, pilots are instructed to drop bombs on designated targets. Cameras are mounted on the towers and pointed at the target area where they record and transmit video data of the weapon impact to the WISS. The video is stored in a database for viewing later on. The WISS will calculate the location of the impact using triangulation reference from two cameras looking at the same location. The scoring will be done manually by an operator using the WISS system.
The objective of the project is to create a web application that will enable the user to manage information on personnels and equipments. It will allow the user to setup mission details and provide the ability to score pilots on their ordnance drops during the mission. The web application will be user friendly, with easy navigation throughout the entire application. WISS is a centralized database for the scheduling and evaluation of weapons and munitions strikes for aircraft from local or non-local airbases.
