Plan Analysis Application

Project Purpose

The Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning provides land and zoning enforcement for unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County. Regional Planning works with two important systems, GIS and EnerGov, to provide permit services for interested entities. Regional Planning envisions to consolidate the data drawn from GIS and EnerGov into a single, easily accessible application. Our main goal is to help customers find all the information pertaining to the cases at the tip of their fingers. We would like our customers to seamlessly oversee case processing and in turn, achieve greater productivity for the Department of Regional Planning.

Project Description

The Department of Regional Planning is working towards enhancing their level of service to their customers by facilitating a more intuitive experience of navigating through Case Reports. Each case is customized to have any number of permits determined by the applicable zoning codes and regulations. Permits are categorized into business, commercial, and residential, and include but are not limited to accessory dwelling units, alcoholic beverage sales, hotel standards, and parking protocols. The Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning needs a streamlined web application that directs users to the appropriate permit forms with their case’s information and helps users monitor the status of their case. Leveraging Google API's presented users with complete access to their permit forms in a safe, read only environment that is embedded into their browser’s window where they could print or download permits with multiple extensions for offline use. Users also have the capability to edit these permit forms using a customized side panel built using the very API. Moving forward, we save users the everyday trouble of manually filling out piles of forms to simply a click of a button. It is of high priority to adapt a more modern, manageable, and automated permit processing service in order to be more time and cost efficient.
