HDR Imagery Dynamic Tone Mapping: OpenFX Plugin for Davinci Resolve



Project Description

Modern displays vary significantly in their maximum brightness capabilities. LED, OLED, and QLED technologies each behave differently, often presenting a challenge in preserving creative intent across these devices. Complexity increases when multiple HDR and SDR sources appear together, requiring dynamic tone mapping and color balance to preserve visual consistency. These inconsistencies affect much of the technology in the media industry, including televisions, monitors, mobile phones, tablets, streaming platforms, and editing softwares. As a result, there is a growing need for a standardized method of adapting brightness while preserving creative intent across all display types.

Design and implement an algorithm for an OpenFX plug-in for DaVinci Resolve that aligns with SMPTE standards and delivers:
