Downlink Signal Monitoring Network Enhancements
Background:
The ATT satellite fleet broadcasts television signals to more than 20 million subscribers in all fifty United States. To ensure optimal signal availability, ATT monitors signals at many points in its distribution network, including ingestion, post-processing, uplinks (to satellites) and downlinks (from satellites). Improvements to ATT’s nationwide downlink signal monitoring network will enhance ATT’s ability to more quickly detect, and more effectively respond, to anomalies in these delivered signals. An existing PHP-based system currently monitors and displays this data.
The project:
Rebuild the existing tool from the ground up, utilizing none of the original code, but maintaining all of its original features. Implement an alerts and comments system to facilitate the review and dismissal of downlink signal anomalies with the goal of helping ATT predict and prevent future anomalies. Implement dynamic graphs that can be zoomed in and out of without having to regenerate the data. Employ state-of-the-art libraries and tools (such as nodejs and express, react, mongodb, and docker) and ensure that the system is both easy-to-use and scalable.
